Miscellanea

I have no idea if I spelled that word correctly.

Lots of stuff occurred in the past week, hence my blog hiatus.

1. Peggy Nash won our riding, making Parkdale-High Park one of several in the GTA to go NDP. I'm pretty pleased with the results, actually. She is a smart woman with a great record, and she ran a hell of a campaign. I was at her headquarters, covering the election for the little community paper I freelance for, and I must admit, it was pretty exciting. While there's little to be chuffed about on the national scale, it's good to know there's a solid MP at the local level.

2. One of the creepier Law and Order: SVU episodes ever aired on Tuesday night. With that show, that's saying something. There was kidnapping, child porn, fancy-schmanz surveillance equipment and a live burial. Plus, it had Mariska Hargitay in a wicked-cool dress. Colour me entertained!

3. I had a fantastic dinner at a Peruvian restaurant on St. Clair West.

4. I caught a great show at the Phoenix on Thursday night. It was free, and being filmed for CBC. Since I'm old and lame, I left pretty early, but caught a few interesting acts, including Matt Mayes and El Torpedo, and my best friend Randy Bachman playing with some jazzy young guy. Entertaining.

5. I got sick. Friday I woke up snotty and hacky and hazy, and it's stuck with me since. I feel about as attractive as Emma Thompson in that oddly intriguing-looking new Nanny McPhee movie.

That is all.
