Oh my God, you guys
"Tell Him" by the Exciters has long been one of my favourite slices of retro-Motown-cheese. It makes me grin like a fool when I hear it. That skanky background track, those ridiculous vocals. Beautiful. So naturally, I was thrilled to find this while YouTubing today:
Seriously? Okay, let's set aside the fact that there's a very out of place DUDE in the Exciters, and that he's miming all their dance moves and actions without actually pretending to sing, to focus on the animals. Based on the setting, and the body language, the untrained viewer could be forgiven for thinking the lead singer is providing love advice to--and possibly seducing--a bear, lion, and series of swans.

Oh Deb, you need to take a Wednesday and come to Hammy. There's a little dive of a bar, called Absinthe, in downtown that does Motown on Wednesday nights. It's the most fun I think I've ever had at a bar, everyone sings and dances, and it's packed!
